Searching Online for Community Resources

The advent of the internet has made searching for local community information much easier, so this is the best place to start. Browse through our home listings by searching for your required number of bedrooms or other features at the top of this page. When you begin to find suitable homes, make note of the community they are located in. Salt Lake City, Ogden, Sandy, West Jordan and other local cities all have their own websites with information about local amenities, events and more. Take the time to see which communities match with your values and would be suitable for your family.

Look for Highly-rated, Accessible Schools

If your children are still in school, you’ll want to look for schools that rate highly for academic achievement and are located inside of residential areas or are within walking distance. On each property listing page you’ll see the closest elementary and high school, as well as a button which takes you to ratings for each school. Again, this is worth investing a bit of time into researching and be sure to involve your children if they’re old enough to have an opinion on the subject.

Are There Local Parks and Community Centers?

One of the key parts in building strong, family-oriented communities are the creation of gathering places where neighbors can get together to enjoy public events and each other’s company. When you begin to short list homes that may be suitable for your family, take a look around the local area. Are there parks or other green spaces where you see residents out enjoy the sunshine? Do you see baseball parks or the occasional soccer pitch where children can play in youth leagues? Are there community centers which offer swim lessons and fitness facilities to say fit? These are all excellent signs that a community may be a fit for you and your family.

When in Doubt, Ask Around

Remember – there’s no one who knows more about a community than its residents, so if you’re still a bit unsure about the local area take the time to ask around. After all, if you do move into a nearby home these folks will be your neighbors. If you see anyone around walking a dog or pushing a stroller, say hello and ask how they like living in the area.
